Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions.

The terms that apply to your use of this website and to communications with the firm. These are separate from any engagement letter, which governs any actual legal services we provide.

1. About these terms.

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the website at trustyourfamily.com and any related communications with Trust Your Family PLLC ("we," "us," "the firm"). By using the site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. No legal advice.

The content on this website is for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not legal advice and should not be relied upon as such. Reading content on this site does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and the firm.

Legal outcomes turn on specific facts. Nothing on this site is a substitute for advice from a qualified attorney engaged in your situation under a written engagement letter.

3. No attorney-client relationship by communication.

Contacting the firm — by website form, email, phone, voicemail, text, social media, or otherwise — does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship with Trust Your Family PLLC is established only when both you and an attorney of the firm have signed a written engagement letter, and the firm has confirmed there is no conflict of interest preventing the engagement.

Please do not send confidential information through any unsigned channel. Until an engagement letter is signed, no information you send is protected as a privileged communication, and the firm may be free to represent another party adverse to you in the same matter.

4. Chat assistant — no legal advice, no attorney-client relationship.

The firm operates an automated chat assistant on this website powered by artificial intelligence. By using the chat, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

  • The chat assistant does not provide legal advice. Any information provided through the chat is general in nature and is for informational purposes only. It is not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney regarding your specific situation.
  • No attorney-client relationship is created. Use of the chat assistant — including sending messages, receiving responses, and scheduling a discovery call — does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and Trust Your Family, John W. Heck, or any attorney associated with the firm. An attorney-client relationship is established only after both you and the firm have executed a written engagement agreement.
  • Do not share confidential information. Because no attorney-client relationship exists during the chat, communications you make through the chat are not protected by the attorney-client privilege. Do not share confidential information, sensitive personal details, or specifics of any legal matter through the chat.
  • Responses may be inaccurate. The chat assistant is an automated system and may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated responses. You should not rely on chat responses to make legal decisions.
  • Jurisdictional limits. Trust Your Family attorneys are licensed in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and New Jersey, and are licensed but inactive in Georgia. We do not practice law in any other jurisdiction, and the chat assistant does not constitute the practice of law in any jurisdiction where the firm is not authorized.
  • No urgent or emergency use. Do not use the chat for time-sensitive legal matters or emergencies. For urgent matters, contact our office directly at (571) 568-7878 or admin@trustyourfamily.com.

By initiating a chat session, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.

5. Jurisdiction & licensing.

Attorneys of Trust Your Family PLLC are licensed in Virginia, the District of Columbia, and New Jersey, and are licensed but inactive in Georgia. We do not practice law in jurisdictions where we are not actively licensed.

If you are located outside the jurisdictions in which the firm is actively licensed, content on this site does not constitute advertising or solicitation in your jurisdiction. Whether we can represent you in a matter located outside those jurisdictions depends on the facts, applicable licensing, and the rules of professional conduct in your jurisdiction.

6. Engagement letters.

Any actual legal services from the firm are governed by a written engagement letter, signed by both the firm and the client. The engagement letter — not this website — controls the scope of services, fees, billing, conflicts, file retention, termination, and other terms of the engagement. To the extent these Terms and an engagement letter conflict, the engagement letter controls for that engagement.

7. Third-party links.

This site may link to third-party websites for convenience. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site. Use of any third-party site is at your own risk and subject to that site's terms.

8. Intellectual property.

Content on this site — including text, graphics, logos, and the trade names "Trust Your Family®" and "Get on the Path to Peace of Mind®" — is the property of Trust Your Family PLLC or its licensors, and is protected by U.S. and international intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on this site without our written permission, except for personal, non-commercial use.

9. No warranties.

The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the firm disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

10. Limitation of liability.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will the firm be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the site, even if the firm has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

11. Text messaging consent.

If you provide a phone number through a form on this site and consent to receive text messages, you agree to receive client-care, marketing, and event SMS messages from Trust Your Family PLLC. Message frequency may vary. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out. Reply HELP for help. Consent to text messages is not a condition of any purchase or engagement.

12. Governing law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Alexandria, Virginia, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

13. Changes to these terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Your continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
